A face to face medical covering the needs of your swimming organisation and the completion of the form(s).
ECGs
We can carry out an ECG for specific swims that require it such as IISA or North Channel, if you wish an extra level of safety or if we advise you that it’s in your interest.

If you need additional forms completed during the season, this can also be arranged, free of charge

What are our values?
This is a dedicated, friendly and professional service, provided by highly experienced individuals with a passion for open water swimming.
The service is competitively priced.
£73 for a medical in 2023, of which 10% goes to Dover Channel Training, and another 20% covers sports medicals insurance, equipment, travel and occasionally assistant fees.
A proportion of the income is donated to charity.
About us
Dr Mig Arbide BSc (Hons), MBBS, DCH, DRCOG, DPD
I am a UK GMC registered doctor (number 4106412), on the General Practitioners List.
Qualifying in London in 1994, I then became a GP in 2000, working in Cambridgeshire as a regular GP for 20 years.
I‘m now a portfolio GP including swimming medicals as a special interest.
Since early 2018 I have carried out swimming medicals, last year signing off over 230, with some assistance from two other doctors training in Sports Medicine. I occasionally provide advice to other doctors carrying out medicals via organisations such as the Channel Swimming Association.
My open water swimming interest as an adult started in 2015. I have completed three English Channel relays, a 24mile/24h 3 person relay, several 10K+ events in lakes and rivers, The Gibraltar Straits, The Bocaina Strait and a 14h+ English Channel attempt.
I collaborate with other doctors, swimming professionals and scientists interested in open water swimming on a regular basis. I also contribute to the development of the sport with yearly presentations through Dover Channel Training seminars/webinars.
Emma France
I’ve been running Dover Channel Training since 2016 during which time I have trained hundreds of swimmers to complete successful swims all over the world.
My open water swimming career started with a channel relay in 2005 and since then I have completed three English Channel solos, 20 English Channel Relays, Round Jersey, Jersey to France and Lake Zurich among other events.
My collaboration with Dr Mig Arbide started from 2018. I think it’s important for swimmers to have access to good quality medical support from an experienced doctor.
